A coastline of contrasts, amazing vistas, authentic
sights and vida sentimental, which means a love of life.

Beach access is a short stroll along a path overlooking a
gully. Breathe in the subtle sweet Stone Pine scent or
admire the vibrant Pink Chorão Carpobrotus edulis,
replaced by samphire and Mediterranean saltwort
once you step onto the sand. Looking back, the cliff face is a
kaleidoscope of colour, created by rainwater running off
the tops and polished by the tides. Erosion over time has
carved out inlets and sheltered nooks for shade, along with
arches and other rock formations for your exploration.

Sunbeds, jet skis, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards
for rent, with the shallows safe for children to enjoy. Watch for
local Vitor Raposo and his art that the sea erases. You might
even like to try your hand at sand sculpture. Or follow the
brown signposts to the Praia for an unrivalled view of the
coastline. Then continue along the cliff tops, all the way to
Olhos de Água beach with its freshwater springs on the shore
and terraced walkways lined with pine trees, acacia and aloe.

Tour the coast by foot, the interior by bike or sail your way
across the sea. Paddle, surf, or ride the beach on horseback.
Take part in an artisanal workshop, learn how to eat like a
local or have a Michelin Chef experience. Then stop to swirl,
sniff and sip with a spot of wine tasting. Spend your days
however you choose, doing a lot or very little.

Have your driver introduce you to the neighbouring fishing
town of Olhos de Água. Eastwards from here, the red cliffs
lead to Vilamoura. A little further along and you’ll arrive at
Quinta do Lago, the epitome of Algarvian affluence and part of
the Golden Triangle. With the Spanish border an hour east,
medieval Silves and Monchique westwards, this part of the
Algarve really is a gateway.
